Well Maintenance

Your well is a valuable asset and needs to be looked after properly. Aaron Drilling offers expert annual maintenance programs to insure your well produces clean, clear, healthy water for as long as possible.

Your water well can decrease in production over time, annual treatment slows this process significantly.

We have years of experience bringing older wells back to life and maintaining new water wells so you do not experience production issues.

It starts with selecting the right treatment or well rehabilitation technique for your well.

We start by looking at the symptoms to access the most economical way to get your well producing the water your family needs. Production testing, water sampling for sediments and down hole camera inspection techniques allow us to expertly diagnose your well trouble and choose the most effective and economical solution.

We have many techniques at our disposal. We could use any or all of these:

  • Chemical, Peroxide or Well Chlorination treatment

  • Well perforation jetting with our specialized jetting equipment

  • Water well liner removal, redevelopment and liner replacement

  • Down hole perforation brushing and buildup removal

  • Well replacement

Our goal is to solve the problem as economically as possible. This includes making sure you are not spending money on a less effective technique that may not work for your well issue. Wells don’t last forever, so if it’s time for a new well no one is better at recognizing that. Expert advice about any well issues you are experiencing starts with choosing the contractor with the highest level of expertise and the most experience in the Foothills and beyond.

Shock Treatment

Well Cleaning by Shock Chlorination

Water well shock chlorination is a very basic treatment. It is mildly effective but can be performed by the homeowner. Click here for step-by-step instructions. We recommend this treatment be done at a minimum if you intend to be a responsible well owner and want to have a clean
source of healthy drinking water.

PH-Balanced Disinfections

Since Aaron Drilling is committed to the professional development of our most precious natural resource, we have worked closely with Alberta Environment to employ proven methods that provide far more effective treatments than shock chlorination to your well. The pH balanced chlorine treatment is 90% more effective than shock chlorination.

This program is set to cater to a clientele that enjoys the peace of mind that their well is being taken care of on a yearly basis in an effort to promote general well health. The service is typically a 3-day process (of which you will be out of water) and is done from beginning to end by one of our qualified technicians. While we are there, we attain an annual window into your system and your water well performance, as this can prove to be vital information in long-term data collection. A history of well maintenance can then also be supplied when the home is put up for sale to show the potential buyers your commitment to your well, arguably the most valuable asset on your property.

Mechanical Rehabilitation

Unfortunately, most water wells have been neglected, and it is our responsibility to ensure that all debris, sediment, calcification, and biofouling are removed from the well environment prior to annual treatment. This is done in an attempt to prevent any major issues that may result from this neglect.

Rehabilitations are often required if a well has not been properly maintained throughout its lifetime, which is why we stress the importance of routine well maintenance. Rehabilitations attempt to bring your water well as close to its original state as possible, and with a commitment to maintenance following the rehabilitation, your well should continue to provide you with clean, healthy water.

What You Need to Know

Sediment Filters and Flow Control

The most conventional way to see what is happening down your well is to monitor your well’s input with an inline sediment filter. This gives us a
visual aid of the state of the water coming into the house.

If you do not have an inline sediment filter, you can look in your toilet tank. This acts like the water well environment, because when the toilet is flushed, the water level is drawn down, exposing the tank walls to atmosphere. This is what happens in your well. When the pump is turned on, the water level is drawn down, and the borehole is exposed to atmosphere, introducing oxygen to the well environment. This encourages bacterial growth and cascading which may compromise the natural bedrock formations that the water is being drawn.

Before we can service a domestic well, the system requires some protection:

Flow Control: This is installed to ensure that the well does not get over-pumped.

Isolation Valve: This is to ensure that there is no accidental introduction of chemicals into the home.

Pump Tech: This is a piece of electrical equipment for your pump. It senses a no-water condition and shuts down the pump.

Inline Sediment Filter: This is your first line of defense. It will give you a visual aid of the water being pumped into your home and protect you from

biofouling and sediment entering into the house lines.
